2023 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Richebourg Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits, France (750ml)
TASTING NOTES:
The 2023 Richebourg Grand Cru is a total stunner. Bright and beautifully sculpted, with tremendous energy, the Richebourg is one of the wines in the range of 2023s that offers a super-classic sense of Burgundian transparency. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper, blood orange and red-toned fruit are finely sketched. Richebourg is rarely this elegant. What a wine!
- Vinous, 98 pts.
The 2023 Richebourg is a wine of immense potential, although it remains somewhat closed on the initial attack. With time in the glass, ripe aromas of mulberry fruit and spice, along with a suggestion of well-integrated barrel notes, begin to develop. There is abundant tannin and grip that give depth to the creamy texture and lead the wine to an impressively long finish. The wine is less opulent than the Romanée-St-Vivant, but perhaps has even more long-term ageing potential. 14,950 bottles produced.
- Decanter, 97 pts.
On the other hand, Richebourg was opulent and forthcoming, featuring spicy cherry and sandalwood notes underscored by firm tannins, if not the depth of the Romanée-St.-Vivant (96 points, non-blind).
- Wine Spectator, 96 pts.
