WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
From an exceptional year in terms of drought and heat waves, a Rosso with a very round, intense, leafy and dried character. The nose is fruit driven at the beginning: lots of cherry, black berries, saturated and dark fruit. Then spice, blue flowers, mint. The palate is succulent even if very rich, delivering Morello cherry, blood orange, star anise sensations. Tannins are tight but fine grained, the acidity tangy, and helps to keep the wine balanced and in tension. The finish is layered and outstretched.
TASTING NOTES:
The Biondi Santi Rosso di Montalcino does everything the category should, over-delivering in terms of sophistication, depth, and simple pleasure. What a stellar way to get a taste of the magic that comes from the historic Tenuta Greppo.

A super-restrained wine showing complex aromas of rhubarb, strawberries, violets, raspberries and blood oranges. The attack is quite ripe, with dense, velvety tannins soaked in fruit, a medium body and refreshing lifted acidity. The finish is long and savory. Drink or hold.

Classic to the core and youthfully intense, the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino slowly evolves with a bouquet of dried roses, mint-laced strawberries and nuances of worn leather. It's initially soft in texture but quickly firms up through a core of tart red berry fruits that saturate. Chewy minerality adds complexity toward the close. The acidity is on point, nicely balancing the concentration of the vintage. That said, the tannins are a bit forbidding at this stage, so give the 2022 a few years in the cellar.

Offers ample fruit in the form of cherry, strawberry and red currant notes accented by tar, iron and eucalyptus. Firmly structured, tense and elegant, with a solid grip on the long finish.
