WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
Crafted from one of Napa Valley’s most distinctive appellations, the 2021 Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon captures the elegance, structure, and nuance that define this region. Sourced from meticulously farmed vineyards in the southeastern foothills of Napa Valley, this limited-production wine reflects both the character of the site and a disciplined, hands-on approach in the cellar.
In the glass, the wine reveals a deep, inky hue, hinting at its concentration and depth. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with aromas of blackberry, plum, and cassis, intertwined with notes of wild sage, lavender, and a touch of mint. Subtle hints of crushed stone, leather, and spice add complexity and speak to the wine’s sense of place.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet remarkably poised. Dark fruit flavors are framed by fine-grained tannins and lifted by a vibrant freshness that is signature to Coombsville. A mineral-driven core provides structure and tension, while the extended aging in 100% new French oak lends depth and a seamless texture without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is long, layered, and evolving, leaving impressions of dark chocolate, cedar, and savory herbs.
Produced in extremely limited quantities, this Cabernet Sauvignon is both powerful and restrained, offering immediate appeal with decanting, while rewarding patience in the cellar for years to come.
TASTING NOTES:
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Coombsville) offers up an exotic mélange of dark-fleshed fruit with the cooling savory notes that are so typical of the appellation. Sage, lavender, mint, spice and leather open with some coaxing. The Coombsville Cabernet is the most refined offering in this range, although it has plenty of textural intensity.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville comes from the cooler southern end of the valley and is 100% varietal aged 19 months in new barrels. It has an incredibly pure style and slightly more herbaceous aromatics compared to the Napa release and offers ample cedar pencil, green tobacco, coffee, and graphite-like nuances. It's concentrated, medium to full-bodied, has beautiful depth and richness, and polished tannins.

Fayard has a real penchant for crafting stylish wines, and it shows here in this Coombsville-sourced Cab, with its polished tannins and ripe, glossy blackberry fruit, which finds footing atop that Coombsville spicy dried herb character and cool-climate freshness. With plenty of grip and tension, hints of mocha and cherry pie spices weave their way around the nose and palate.
