WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
From a dedicated, small-scale producer, the 2020 Azienda Agricola Davide Carlone Boca is a stunning, traditional Nebbiolo blend from the mineral-rich hills of Alto Piemonte. The nose is intensely aromatic and pure, with notes of sour cherry, dried rose petal, and cranberry, layered with savory hints of white pepper, licorice, and crushed volcanic rock. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, taut, and energetic, with a core of pristine red fruit framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and the region's signature high, persistent acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, savory, and intensely mineral. A classic, cellar-worthy Boca that speaks clearly of its terroir.
75% Nebbiolo & 25% Vespaiolo
TASTING NOTES:
The 2020 Boca is laced with dark cherry, licorice, lavender and graphite, but it’s the tannin profile (more rustic vis-à-vis the Adele) that stands out most. This needs a bit of time to come together, but I suspect it will always be a bit rough-hewn. Even so, there is a feeling of genuineness that is evident.
