2020 Dakishvili Family Vita Vinea Kisi Pétillant, Georgian Republic (750ml)
The oldest known production of sparkling wine took place in 1531 in France. The wine made by this ancestral method became known as Pétillant Natural-Pét-Nat The ancestral method is known under different names in the wine world. In Georgia wine made by such method is called "Machari". Crafted from Kisi grape variety, this Pét-Nat was made by bottling and capping unfinished, still-fermenting wine and as such, allowing completion of fermentation in the bottle. Unlike the traditional "Methode Champanuase" there is no ridding and disgorging done here. The wine is somewhat obscure from remaining lees and contains natural sediment. This very sparkling wine expresses rich aromas of pears, citruses and tropical fruits. With floral and pleasant yeasty aftertaste. Enjoy as an aperitif, or as an after-meal drink.
