Winemaker Notes
Sonoma County is incredible Cabernet country, so using it as an anchor in a blend is exciting. Blue Dog Cabernet is the base for this wine at 50% and its location in Dry Creek Valley makes for fully ripe, rounded texture. Famighetti Vineyards’ Syrah, from up above the valley floor, lends aromatic complexity and rich mouthfeel while the addition of Merlot, from further south in Carneros, helps reinforce a red-fruit balance of juicy acidity. The final element they needed to fill in some deeper notes of flavor and color was an inky drop of Petite Sirah from Rockpile vineyard in far northern Sonoma County!

92pts-Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Syrah, 22% Merlot and 5% Petite Sirah, the 2016 Apex Sonoma County Red Wine sports a deep garnet-purple color and a provocative nose of baked blackcurrants, Black Forest cake, tar and chargrill with hints of bay leaves, truffles and tapenade. Full-bodied, rich and decadently fruited in the mouth, it packs in the black fruit and savory layers with a firm yet plush texture and great length.
