Continue ShoppingDuring the summer months, temperatures can become too hot to ship wine safely. So, we've outlined our warm weather policy below so that you know your options, risks, and obligations:
During this time of extreme warm weather, we are offering the following options after you place your order. All options include cool packs at no additional charge:
If we feel your delivery area is too hot we will default to holding your order until weather permits, or until we hear from you otherwise.
PLEASE NOTE, VERY IMPORTANT: We highly recommend either holding your order for cooler weather or upgrading to express shipping. Although the cool packs provide some protection, proceeding with ground shipping during times we've deemed it too hot to ship safely is not an option we recommend, even with cool packs. Because we do not consider this to be a preferred method, if you choose to go ahead and ship via FedEx Ground during a time we've deemed it too hot to ship safely, we will not be responsible for any heat damage that may occur. Any wine that is heat damaged due to our decision to ship, we will of course take responsibility for.
Please also keep in mind that an adult signature is required upon delivery. We cannot be responsible for heat damage that occurs due to missed deliveries.
We will continue to hold your order in our climate controlled warehouse until either we hear from you or until we've deemed it safe to ship.
2023 Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA (750ml)
WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
The Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon is the finest expression of two distinct vineyard blocks in the Coombsville appellation, the hidden gem of the Napa Valley, in an ancient volcanic caldera in the southeast corner of the Valley, receiving the refreshing breezes off San Pablo Bay. In 2023, as always, the grapes were fermented with native yeasts, aged for 20 months in French Oak barrels, and bottled without fining or filtration. The purity shows through in the glass—dark black-purple color, opaque, red fruit aromas playing equal part with notes of graphite, thyme, cassis bud and mineral tones. The wine has a European sensibility but with the concentration that one comes to expect in the Napa Valley. This mix of savory elements and intense fruit flavors is the hallmark of Coombsville. It is a unique expression, especially when produced in the natural, old-world Arietta style.
TASTING NOTES:
All Cabernet Sauvignon, largely from the Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville, Arietta's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 20 months in French oak prior to bottling. Put simply, it's a terrific effort, marked by dark, enthralling scents of cassis, blueberries, sage and mocha. Medium- to full-bodied, it's concentrated and structured by layers of soft tannins, with a long, lush and intensely flavorful finish. Give it at least a few years in the cellar, if you can.
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 96+ pts.
The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the very finest wines in this range. Blackberry, gravel, incense, licorice and espresso are all beautifully amplified. This is an especially dramatic, huge Coombsville Cabernet. Time in the glass further brings out the wine's density and gravitas. Give it time to soften.
- Vinous, 95+ pts.
Intensely perfumed and deeply brooding with aromas of blackcurrants, licorice, graphite and cured meats. The palate is seamlessly integrated with finely tuned tannins and bright acidity that lead to a mouthwatering, earth-driven finish. An excellent balance of freshness and power with decades of drinking time ahead. Great harmony. Drink or hold.
- James Suckling, 95 pts.
