WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
First made in 1996, the H Block continues to define the personality and style of the Arietta brand: balance, persistence, old world sophistication, and distinctive blends. As a rare planting of Cabernet Franc in the relatively cool climate of Carneros, the H Block on the Hudson Ranch consistently demonstrates its ability to achieve complete phenolic ripeness, with Pomerol-like depth and texture. Co-fermentation with Merlot from the adjacent Hudson I Block assures the most harmonious possible blend, with the Merlot deepening the wine and powering the beguiling aromas of the Cabernet Franc.
TASTING NOTES:
The 2021 Merlot Hudson Vineyards is fabulous. A dollop of Cabernet Franc lifts the Merlot fruit beautifully. This dark, vivid wine has so much to offer. Hints of espresso, dried herbs, graphite and clove lend further complexity. Readers will find a wine of real pedigree.
