WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
Aromas of rich, dark fruits such as blackberry and currant meet savory leather, hints of tobacco, baking spices, and earthy notes on the palate.
TASTING NOTES:
A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc sourced from the Oak Knoll District, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon No. 2 features hints of graham crackers and mint layered atop a base of cassis-tinged fruit. Aged 16 months in 28% new French oak, 8% new Austrian oak and the balance used French barrels, it's medium- to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and silky in feel. It's not overly tannic but does have a decent backbone, and the fruit and tannins both linger elegantly on the finish. It's an excellent wine at an excellent price.
