Penfolds Max's Cabernet Sauvignon is a tribute to former Chief Winemaker Max Schubert (1948-1975) - a legend in Penfolds history. Max's constant pursuit of excellence paved the way for those who followed in his footsteps and also allowed the status and heritage of Penfolds to grow. Max's Cabernet Sauvignon displays the Penfolds 'House Style' inspired by Max Schubert.
In the 2022 vintage, varietal aromatics shine bright on the nose. First noted, red currants and fresh cranberries. A gentle swirl reveals dried Italian herbs with a suggestion of charcuterie meats. On the palate, cabernet line and length are impeccably balanced. Red, blue and black fruits melt with sweet-spiced cinnamon. Vanilla Chai and cedar oak add further exotic allure. Fine, silky tannins add savoury balance and length to the palate. Refreshing acidity provides a lovely counterweight to the generous fruits.
