WINEMAKER NOTES:
The 2021 Château Rouget from Pomerol, France, is a well-regarded, classic Bordeaux blend (Merlot/Cabernet Franc) known for its balance of rich dark fruit (plum, cherry) with oak notes (vanilla, spice) and earthy undertones, offering juicy, elegant, and promising aging potential with soft tannins and a pleasant finish
TASTING NOTES:
This has attractive aromas of dried flowers, red berry fruit, cloves, chocolate and mushrooms. Fresh yet firm on the palate, with a medium body and lightly chewy tannins. Long and juicy finish. Best after 2025.

An unusually rich, demonstrative wine for the vintage, the 2021 Rouget exhibits aromas of crème de cassis, raspberry liqueur and cherry preserve, framed by toasty oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a sweet, somewhat confectionery core of fruit framed by structuring barrel tannins.

Richly perfumed on the nose, floral scented and vibrant. This has a nice texture, soft and smooth yet tannins grip the mouth and sides of the cheeks and have that slate, liquorice, crushed stone and graphite edge from the terroir. It's quite linear and focused, not moving so much from its vein of black fruit and minerality but it feels well worked with persistence and a long finish. A touch of salinity at the end is also great. I love the styling on this and will be great in a few years.
