Michter’s, renowned for its limited edition whiskeys, has previously graced the whiskey world with toasted barrel expressions of its bourbon and sour mash whiskey. This rye variant stands out, offering a flavor profile that's both distinctive and memorable. With its roots tracing back to 2014, Michter’s proudly introduced the toasted barrel finish, a novel concept in American whiskey at the time.
The creation process is intricate. Fully matured barrels of US*1 Rye undergo a secondary maturation in barrels that have been naturally air-dried and seasoned outdoors for 24 months, then toasted to bring out unique flavors. The result is a whiskey with a pronounced wood-forward palate, enriched with notes of toasted nuts, supple leather, and gentle tannins.
