WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
Cool elegance, finesse and minerality. The Felsenstein vineyard is characterized by calcareous rock and an exposed high altitude – a place where Chardonnay can grow in its purest form. Cool nights and the constant breeze from the Leithaberg create a delicate, exciting wine with salty minerality, bright fruit and a clear structure. A Chardonnay for those who appreciate precision and length. A Leithaberg classic with depth.
TASTING NOTES:
The 2023 Chardonnay Felsenstein was grown on pure Leitha limestone on this slightly sloping site close to the Lake. After destemming and fermenting spontaneously in stainless steel, the fruit received two days of skin contact, where it stayed on gross lees until the following spring. The gentlest smokiness and tender, wet oyster shell aromas join lemon on the nose and continue with more intensity and direction on the palate. This is beautifully slender and streamlined, with the Chardonnay's own texture falling in beautifully with its subtle chalkiness.
