TASTING NOTES:
Barrel Sample. This is an impressive wine from a much-improved estate. It has all the right elements of ripe berry fruits, some firm tannins and fine acidity, combined into an elegant, balanced package

An array of baking spices and toasty oak sits across dark-cherry compote and chocolate. The palate has a smooth, sturdy tannin frame and good depth of dark-fruit flavors. Try from 2020.

The 2015 Lamarque has a detailed raspberry and wild strawberry-scented bouquet with good tension: not a powerful Haut-Médoc but focused and crisp. The palate is medium-bodied with an attractive saline entry, good balance with well-judged acidity. This is a classic, stylish 2015 with plenty of freshness and class, one that I expect will land towards the top of my banded score once in bottle.

The 2015 Château de Lamarque is a smokin’ good Haut Médoc and well worth checking out. Offering full-bodied richness and a plump, forward, hedonistic style that makes you want to drink a glass, it gives up lots of ripe plum and black cherry fruit as well as more spice, violets, and earth with time in the glass. Drink this sexy 2015 over the coming 5-8 years.
